AUDITIONS: 2008 VIrginia Renaissace Faire

February 15, 2008 by The Crier · Leave a Comment

Become part of the magic! The Out of the Woodwork Productions will
hold it’s annual cast auditions and crew recruitment for the 2008
Virginia Renaissance Faire at the Central Rappahannock Regional
Library, 1201 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, VA on Saturday, February
16 noon – 5pm and Sunday, Feb.17, 1pm – 5pm.

The faire makes use of a large cast, crew and volunteers each year to
make Staffordshire, England come alive. It is time for you to join
our cast with open call auditions. We are looking for townsfolk,
militia, musicians and a wide variety of street characters to fill
our ranks. Of particular interest this season are brass and
percussion players for the Royal Brass and horse-lovers to squire at
the joust. All training is provided.

But I’ve never done this before! Auditioning is easy.

Interested parties of ALL ages are encouraged to come out. Prepare
about 90 seconds of memorized (or well-read) dialogue (poem, play
soliloquy, or a joke). You will be asked to sing about 8 bars of any.
Singing well is not a requirement; you just have to be brave enough
to give it a go.

Crew positions exist in our Safety and Security team, Building,
Gardening and Grounds and faire operations support. (Gift Shop, box
office, pub) As with cast, all training is provided.

Out of the Woodwork is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to producing the
finest in interactive educational entertainment. For more
information about becoming a member of the Virginia Renaissance Faire
family, call 703-508-5036, email us at comeplay@varf.org or visit the

Folsom Update

February 1, 2008 by The Crier · Leave a Comment

The 2008 Folsom Renaissance Faire will be produced by Renaissance Productions, inheriting it from St. Matthews guild who retired from event production after 15 years of putting on one of the great annual short run Faires in Northern California. More news will be forthcoming at the Symposium as well as via the RenProd websites.
